International bands to rock Ha Noi
Bands from European and Asian countries will rock the crowd at Ha Noi’s biggest-ever music festival to be held this week.
East and West will meet with their different music and dancing styles, and will provide us with a fantastic showcase of cultures.
The Art of Urban Dance consists of eight talented dancers from France, Germany and Denmark who use rock, pop, b-boying, house dance and hip hop free style to develop their moves.
Britain’s Faze Action, with brothers Robin and Simon Lee and vocalist Andre Espeut, is considered London’s most talented funk soul band. Pioneers of nu-disco in the mid 1990s, they now attract fans with what can only be described as pure electronic soul.
From Asia come Thailand’s Futon and Phillipines’ The Dawn. Futon claims to be Thailand’s first electroclash band and is described as punked-up electro with a mix of Asian and European pop culture.
The Dawn is considered Philippines’ premier rock band whose unique style combines metal, rock, punk, new wave, and jazz.
Viet Nam will feature pop and rock bands Dong Doi and Trio 666. Dong Doi received awards at the Music Festival of Youth in 2003 and the Band of Youth Festival in HCM City. Style of Trio 666 won the title of Viet Nam’s Best Girlband in 2003. The three girls mix modern Pop and Alternative Rock.
Dong Doi, Futon, Faze Action and The Art of Urban Dance will perform at Ha Noi’s Water Park at 6pm this Saturday, October 2.
On October 8, Trio 666 will perform with The Dawn, Faze Action and The Art of Urban Dance at Nguyen Du Club in HCM City.
The concert, organised by the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Goethe Institute, L’Espace and the British Council, is part of the ASEM cultural programme in Viet Nam. — VNS
